Kicker and Sensory Big Air

It must be in the stars because, for the second time, local wakeboarders were greeted to perfect conditions for Wake2wake’s 1st Class Friday. Wearing the proper armor: board, bindings and PFD, riders battled to see who would take the honors of best off the Adrenaline Adventures’ Kicker and for the Sensory Big Air competition! Sunset Mike

With the kicker placed close to the beach and with beats coming from DJ Sketch, it all added up to being an exciting competition and evening. Amplitude, Technical difficulty and Style would be the focus of the wakeboarders as they were split off into heats of 6 to fight for the top 2 spots for the finals. In the end, it was Winnipeg newcomer Chris C, who surprised the local crew by busting out huge half cab glides to take the win. Jamie Korstrom’s lofty toeside back 3 would give him second place while Dan Clements huge heelside 3 gave him 3^rd place. Getting 4^th place was a determined Mike Fisette, wanting to take the win with a skeezer (cab crow mobe) but he unfortunately ended up popping the handle on each of his attempts.

Bryanne Elissa, once again showed the ladies what it means to ride by landing a half cab 180 and thus giving her the win. Not far behind Bryanne was AA shredder, Amie Seier who got some air and landed a second place finish by landing a clean indy grab. Megan Shaffer charged into the kickers and took 3^rd place.

The Sensory Big Air Competition was a solid 15 minutes of hard changing action that showed how big Winnipegers could go. Fueled by Redbull Energy drinks, the men were metaphorically separated from the boys and it was Adam Whitaker who took the win. Boosting higher than everyone else, Adam lofted his body up into the sky popping huge raleys of the Adrenaline Adventures kicker to take the Sensory Big Air Competition title.

Once the riding was over and while overlooking the glowing lake from the Water’s Edge party patio, the cable system was shut down and Dj Sketch played into the night. Top riders walked away with the hottest Sensory gear.
