Early Summer

A few months ago I decided to make plans to ditch the cold weather in Canada and head south-east to the home of many pro wakeboarders, Orlando, Florida. I arrived here about a week ago and I am already up to par with last year’s riding due to the amazing facility called Orlando Watersports Complex. They recently got some new obstacles such as the UNIT quarter pipe, XL kicker and the Henshaw’s rail. With all these new additions and the other magnificent obstacles OWC has to offer, a rider’s progression can only go one way, forward. And that is exactly the direction Dyllon Hubscher and I plan on doing, neh, already in the process of doing.

Recently, Dyllon has landed the trick that stumped him last year, a Cab 540 and a bunch of others including Cab Wing and Tantrum 2 Blind! As for me, I haven’t really accomplished anything new behind the boat but I managed to dial in some new rail tricks and air tricks on the cable.

Our coach, Nick Kamper, is a great guy and absolutely kills it on the boat and cable. He’s easy to get along with and I think he’ll be really helpful in learning some new tricks… as long as we listen to him of course. So far we have seen a lot of fellow Canadians riding at OWC such as Oli Derome and Robbie McMillian.

Everyone has been killing it out there on the water and I can’t wait to see what everyone will bring to the table once the year is over. So far, the weather has been beautiful and every day is like living in paradise.

Until next time, stay classy Winnipeg.
